FRIEND OF ARCHITECTURE: Jack Neely of the Knox History Project
This award honors Jack’s career as an author, columnist, speaker, and tour guide, all of which has benefitted the public perception of the profession and places architecture squarely in the center of both the history and contemporary development of Knoxville as a vital form of cultural expression.

AIA EAST TENNESSEE GOLD MEDAL AWARD
Charles Ross II, AIA, was posthumously awarded the AIA East Tennessee Gold Medal Award.  Charlie’s firm, Ross Fowler, spanned 40 years of engagement with the city, state and region.  Notable projects include Ayers Hall and Haslam School of Business for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; Chamberlain Pavilion for the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga; Bicentennial Mall in Nashville.  His projects span from New Mexico to New York.  His greatest contribution may well be the number of firm principals he mentored:  David Wooley and Kelly Headden of BarberMcMurry architects; David Bailey of Hastings Architecture; Grant Stewart of Gustafsen Guthrie Nichol, ltd; Doug Caywood of Lewis Group Architects; Damon Falconnier of Falconnier Designs; Steve Hackney of Steven Hackney Designs; Bill Hartz of Hartz Residential Design; Bud Hester of Lockwood Green; Sean and Sara Martin of Open Door Architecture; Robyn McAdoo of Dollar and Ewers; Andy Powers of Ross/Fowler; and Bob Proctor of Proctor Hodge.  Charlie’s wife, Linda,  accepted the award on behalf of the Ross family.
