SUMMARY:COTE's Regional Resilience Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Join local design professionals and scientists from ETSU in a day-long workshop focused on Hurricane Helene and other recent natural disasters impacting northeast Tennessee and our surrounding region. We’ll review factors of risk and discuss climate trends that have and will impact the health\, welfare and safety of our local communities. Maps and data will be shared for 6 local counties (Washington\, Cocke\, Unicoi\, Carter\, Greene\, and Johnson) that were severely affected by Hurricane Helene and are participating in a coordinated long-term recovery effort. This event is a unique opportunity for citizens\, professionals\, local government\, and county Long-Term Recovery Group members to come together\, share information\, and engage in unified planning towards regional resilience in northeast Tennessee.  \n\n\n\nWe will begin the morning with tea\, coffee\, and a risk perceptions exercise guided by the Tennessee Climate Office.  After opening remarks\, Dr. Andrew Joyner will give his presentation exploring recent disasters\, climate trends\, and data.  We will then open up the floor for a Q&A to explore how our risk perceptions align with the information presented.   \n\n\n\nIn the afternoon\, free lunch will be provided for guests who register in advance\, and we will have an opportunity to mingle with one another.  We will then move into breakout groups that will rotate through different stations focused on different areas of risk\, each facilitated by a professional table lead.  As information and ideas are shared\, we will be encouraged to jot down notes\, aspirations\, and concerns on large base maps provided for each county at the center of the room.  Along with these community comments\, notes will be taken at each station and will be shared with each of the Long Term Recovery Groups after the event.  \n\n\n\n*This event is approved for 4 HSW credits from AIA National for registered architects. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n COTE’s Regional Resiliency Roundtable 2025\n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Enter Email\n \n \n \n Confirm Email\n \n \n \n If AIA Member\, AIA #(Required)If not\, type your profession. What County Do You Live In?(Required)How Did You Hear About This Event?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nNote: The webinar portion of the event will take place from 11am to 1pm.\n\n\n\n\nClick Here To Access The Webinar The Day of The Event

Streams require permanent and temporary non-disturbance buffers. The buffer locations and widths can have a major impact on the site layout (and building footprint) for a land development project.\n\nWe will also discuss floodplain limits\, Zone A vs AE\, and their requirements.\n\n\nIf you have any issues with registering online\, please reach out to Dustin Durham at dustin@aiaetn.org. \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Business\, Firm\, or School Name(Required)Are you a Member of AIA East Tennessee?(Required)\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Membership Type(Required)Choose from drop down menu.ArchitectAssociateAlliedEmeritusAIA Membership Number(Required)Enter ALLIED if an Allied Member. SUMMARY:Tri-Cities Tech Session
DESCRIPTION:Tri-Cities Tech Session – April 2025 w/ David Headrick\n Register here for the April 2025 Tri-Cities Tech Session. \n\nSurveying and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) are integral to post-disaster assessment and resilience planning. After Hurrican Helene\, large areas were devastated and are still being built back today. Assessing damage and building back the infrastructure requires surveying and SUE. Resilience planning requires understanding exposure\, assessing vulnerability\, and investigating mitigation options. Surveying and SUE provide the backbone of the data used in this process. Surveying And Mapping\, LLC’s David Headrick will present about surveying and SUE technologies\, show how they are applicable in these situations\, and discuss example projects.\n\nIf you have any issues with registering online\, please reach out to Dustin Durham at dustin@aiaetn.org. \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Business\, Firm\, or School Name(Required)Are you a Member of AIA East Tennessee?(Required)\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Membership Type(Required)Choose from drop down menu.ArchitectAssociateAlliedEmeritusAIA Membership Number(Required)Enter ALLIED if an Allied Member.
